Interstate 57 in Illinois, Mile Marker IL
9.
Reported 1999, confirmed Feb 28, 2001
John reports: Bear is working both sides of the
highway and picks his next victim while writing another ticket. He hangs
a radical U-turn and chases down victim No. 2. John claims Bear did not
have time to use his radar and may be using visual only.
Chuck reports: there is 1 car using radar and 5
cars chasing speeders.
Robert reports: that the speed limit drops from
70 MPH in Missouri to 65 MPH in Illinois and Bear is making a killing
Lynn reports: "First/or/
Last 9 miles of Interstate 57 in Illinois near Missouri/Illinois state line.
Continuous city police, county and state radar
units. Tickets being issued to non-speeders. Often 5 or 6 radar units within
3 miles of each other. Revenue grabbing scam."
J.C. reports: "Construction
zone. Speed limit 65 drops to 55, then to 45. Two sheriff squads working area
stopping southbound traffic. Used one radar sighting to stop 2 vehicles; 2nd
squad stopped 3rd vehicle. Court appearance required for 10 miles over."
Dick Reports: "Single
bear works both sides of the road just north of the state line. Pulaski County
sets up multiple car operation between state line and Marion, Il."
This is just north of the Stateline and
there are many reasons why you will find Bear here
including drug interdiction programs stemming the flow of drugs into Illinois.
