Interstate 5 in
Washington State, Mile Marker
WA 138 - 140 near Fife WA.
This driver reports: "There
are three separate traps within a 4 mile stretch, usually concentrated on
South-bound traffic."
"You come into range of the first as you cross the
overpass over Highway 18. The radar unit is usually NB on I-5 on the left
shoulder near the Enchanted Village Parkway overpass. There is a paved state
vehicle turnaround in the median on the north side ov the overpass. Chase
cars can stack there or on the south side of the overpass and are given
instructions from the radar/laser unit facing northbound. Occasionally cars
park on the access and pick off NB cars as well."
"The second trap area is about 1/2 mile south, past
the weigh station and in the center median as two video billboards are visible
to the right. After a season of growth, cars can hide behind the brush on a
gravel area in the late summer/early fall and capture speeds with little
reaction time as they are essentially under full cover."
"The third area is down at the bottom of the hill
past the video billboards. The freeway travels under an overpass at this
point, and cars and motorcycles park on the far side of the overpass, and/or
parked in the northbound direction in the left median."
There are 7 specific "Situations" where you can find bears because
they are creatures of habit.
